Marco Bellocchio

Marco Bellocchio was born in Piacenza in 1939.

In 1959 he interrupts his studies in philosophy at Cattolica University in Milan to sign up to the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.

Between ’61 and ’62 he realizes the short movies Abbasso lo zio, La colpa e la pena and Ginepro fatto uomo, and then he moves to London where he attends the Slade School of Fine Arts. His debut movie I pugni in tasca, presented in Locarno in 1965, claimed international attention.
