Giuseppe Gagliardi

Giuseppe Gagliardi was born in 1977 and arts graduated at Rome's Sapienza University with a thesis in cinema history and criticism.

He made his film debut with The True Legend of Tony Vilar (2006), which took part in the official selection of the New York Tribeca Film Festival and at the Rome Film Festival. In 2011 he directed Tatanka, based on the book Beauty and the Inferno by Gomorrah author Roberto Saviano. The film won the Award for Best Artistic Contribution at the Montreal Film Festival and for Best Foreign Language Film at the New York Film Festival.

 

He has made several shorts and documentaries, including Doichlanda, Jury Prize at the 2003 Turin Film Festival.
For TV, he directed the series 1992 in 2014 and, the following year, Non Uccidere. In 2016 he directed all episodes of the series 1993.
